HOW WE ARE RESPONDING TO THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK
CANCELLING YOUR TOUR OR CHANGING TO ANOTHER TOUR
Our cancellation and change policy is temporarily and immediately amended to now allow all our customers to cancel any tour scheduled to leave before July 1 without penalty for up to THREE weeks before (two weeks for Potato Tours and for Sweet Pickle Tours). (Premiums paid for TravelGuard travel insurance are not refundable but are transferrable to other tours.) Less than three weeks you can change to another tour without penalty, except for any fee that the airline, cruise line, train, or travel insurance may charge. (At this time all airlines are waiving those change fees, too.) If there is public notice from Center for Disease Control or similar that any of our scheduled destinations is quarantined, closed, or unduly impacted by coronavirus we will close the tour up to the day of travel, and not charge any penalty to change to another later tour.
If you wish to cancel your tour you still MUST notify us by email, fax, or letter. Phone conversations or voice mail messages are insufficient notification, and if no formal notice received we will consider you a 'no show' and your tour will not be refundable or changeable.
This change is currently scheduled to expire for NEW reservations made after May 1, at which time our regular published cancellation and change policy are expected to again be in effect.
CANCELLING OR CHANGING AIRLINE TICKETS FOR A TOUR
We don't have control of airline policies, but at this time airlines are waiving change fees, so if we have purchased an airline ticket for you (three weeks before your tour begins) and after that date you wish to change to a different tour, the airlines at this time are allowing you to change the date of your ticket. This means you can change your Search Beyond Adventures, or My Vacation tour, using the same airline ticket, without any change fee charged by the airline.
Again, as with cancelling your tour, you MUST notify us by email, fax, or letter; phone conversations are insufficent notification.
TRAVEL INSURANCE OFFERS EXTRA PROTECTION
You may purchase "TravelGuard" travel insurance from us for all our advertised tours. Per their policy statement:
"If you contract Coronavirus prior to your departure, you would be covered for Trip Cancellation if there is a confirmed diagnosis, including proof of illness from your doctor that states you are medically unable to travel at the time of departure. If you become ill with Coronavirus while on a covered trip, you would be covered for Medical Expense and Trip Interruption/Curtailment benefits if there is a confirmed diagnosis, including proof of illness from a doctor. These coverages are subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance policy.
If you are quarantined as a result of Coronavirus, you would be covered under the Trip Interruption/Curtailment benefit, subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance policy."
We strongly encourage all customers to purchase this travel insurance for their tours.
YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER ALTERNATIVE DESTINATIONS
If you prefer to avoid airports, public transportation, or event crowds, consider trying one of our tours that go to national parks, or one of our many van tours that drive to desinations, or our rustic destinations such as dude ranches. TOUR LEADERS HAVE DISCRETION TO REFUSE YOUR TRAVEL WITH US IF YOU ARRIVE SICK
For the safety of our tour staff and our customers we must insist you arrive healthy, so please do not attempt to travel on tours if you have symptoms of illness. Our tour leaders are empowered to enforce this procedure.
